Newest Poaching case

Jay Nichol released a podcast on the Lampers situation. Besides being Canadian and saying “sorry” weird, he’s got a valid point in some things.

He roasts Peax for a couple of very valid points, but in the aggregate I think he lays off Lampers personally.

I agree with some of his hot takes, disagree with others. All in all it’s worth the 45 minutes to listen to.

I was going to just bring that up.

I’ll start. Did anyone see Brian’s video yesterday?

Thoughts?

Do we think LE are checking cell phone data to see locations during harvests?
My friend is a game warden in this state, and with the new E-Tags that we have now, he said you could see the locations of every kill. Or where your tag was "validated".

I've always wondered about the tracking of GPS data when you validate your tag. Anyone know if Montana logs the GPS coordinates from where you validate your tag? Lots of places don't have cell service (when you validate).

Your phone knows where you are regardless of cell service that's how OnX and the like work. I am sure they know exactly where you validated. My understanding is that all the info is saved and sent once you have service again.

From my understanding your gps coordinates are entered into an algorithm and mt Fwp can’t access them even if they wanted to. They did it that way so people would be more likely to use the e tag. So until Fwp uses it in a case to hammer someone like Idaho has done I’ll continue to believe it. I’ve been told they have had people admit to shooting cows in closed units during the phone calls and wouldn’t tell the warden who it was. So I definitely believe they aren’t tracking e tags

Idaho only has e tagging for salmon and steelhead so that wasn’t used to get Lampers

No, I have spent exactly 0 minutes reading anything in RS about it.

But it doesn’t surprise me at all that they keep shutting down the conversation - one of the owners of RS has had Lampers in his podcast numerous times… as well as his wife…
I started a thread on RS when Bowmars were found guilty and was quickly locked. I thought everyone hated them.
