Newest Poaching case

I wonder if the wolves on Brian’s IG are the ones Ryan lied about to get a bigger bounty.

Also, if there’s one thing I’ve known about personality types over the years, it’s that birds of a feather flock together. All the dudes I’ve known who poach hang with dudes who poach. Long term hunting partners tend to stratify into groups of similar moral and ethical values. Brain puts needles in his ass so who even cares what he has to say anyways.

Everyone makes mistakes in the process of living life. Mistakes are those things we unintentionally do while intentionally trying to do things the right way.

Not everyone intentionally disregards laws and ethics in the process of hunting, working, living, etc… Intentional disregard, isn’t a mistake, it’s a conscious decision to take a specific course of action.

As a consumer of products, when companies ignore or support intentional disregard for game laws or ethics by being silent or continuing to sponsor influencers who have been convicted of intentional violations of laws or ethics that is a clear message to me that short term profit and financial gain is their only concern. At a minimum that company conveys an unspoken understanding to me that as a consumer I should not expect any support or assistance from them if I have an issue with their product.

I also realize that by supporting a company that pays an intentional poacher to influence me to buy a product, I am willingly supporting the process that allows this to be “accepted practice.”


At the very least, it’s a huge disincentive for me to buy that company’s product in the future.

There are many different interpretations of integrity and accountability once you get in the influencer game. Just saying… I have a much stricter standard than poaching.
 
Damaging the resource for financial or personal gain I guess is where I would draw the line.
 
Consumers collectively hold all the cards here. If we keep consuming the content and products the company/influencer dynamic continues. When the company sees a slump in sales or an increase in negative publicity due to the influencer's actions things will change. Company's with a strong moral compass will be more proactive, others not so much.

Sometimes I think the average consumer just doesn't care.

That’s certainly a line you can draw. Everyone has parameters of what they’re willing to accept and support.

What determines whether a resource is damaged for personal gain? Does that person also offset their impact by doing things that benefit the resource? Who makes the determination of what is beneficial or harmful? I see all kinds of room for subjective interpretations and that’s perfectly fine if it’s a personal opinion.

Being convicted of intentionally violating the laws that are designed to protect wildlife and resources is a fairly objective standard of judgement across the board and one that I feel confident is at least a minimum standard removal of support.

Not blaming viewers, but influencers are just feeding the beast what they want to eat.

The court of public opinion differs greatly from legal ones.

Like to give most people the benefit of the doubt till the evidence is completely brought forth and revealed. But hard not to see some of his actions as somewhat incriminating off a circumstantial ideology kickstand.

Watched the BC video and lotta red flags and way to much thou doth protest too much, methinks.

Am guilty of watching a good hunting porn video, but so many are about as boringly scripted as a bad super hero movie.

Truly hope it's a big misunderstanding and he's innocent. If it's not and he did what he's being charged with, would be interesting to see really why he did it. Could be a great learning tool for content creators and viewers alike. Remember fresh tracks early stuff talking about filming permits and such. Bet there's a very high percentage of creators breaking that law knowingly and willingly. That fact gets under the fingernails a lot. May be a stupid law in some people's eyes, but it's still a law. Birds keep their beaks clean for a reason. Birds of a feather, well we all know the rest. Randy and Steve seem to have admitted to wrong doing a time or two and don't claim to be perfect. When someone claims perfection, that gives some pause to the claims they are claiming. It's not just hunting or fishing for the crowd in question, there's money changing hands for what they are doing. Whenever money is involved there's often shady sheet happening. Getting content has gotten harder because of how much information and hype they've put into what they are doing. Demand has skyrocketed for even subpar tags and areas for just about anything and everything. Not saying it's right or wrong, just the nature of how things progress. Family and friends have talked about that for years when all this out west influencer stuff really started on YT. Not playing devil's advocate, but it shows in the content over the last 5 yrs or so. Not as many 3-5 state tag years for these guys like a decade ago. And their content has really suffered because of it. That's gotta put pressure on them when that's their main source of income.

Guilty or innocent, not sure it even matters with all the online trolling going on. Nature of the beast of social media. Great highs. And equally as great, if not greater, lows.

Again, would be fascinating to see if he is guilty, a full frontal interview of why and what lead him to feel he needed to go to such lengths? It might be good for the influencer crowd and viewers to actually see some brutal honesty about what is going on within these peoples heads doing things like this when they don't have tags to push the right content. Could be a great teaching tool down the road. But probably wishful thinking.

How about Call? That video was pretty cringe, but what about his sponsors? Have any of them condemned him for his own poaching conviction? I mean shit, he even released a video describing the whole situation - then deleted it a week later. How many of his sponsors have dropped him - including Peax and GoHunt.

FWIW GoHunt pulled all content. Not sure if you clicked on those search results. Most of the ones I saw were 404 messages content not found.

He sold his business to Peax earlier this year.
 
They must be working through removing videos still. The link Potsie posted was active when I clicked on it and I saw the Alaska hunt Lampers was on with Brady still on there. Both are removed now.
 
I'm not sure why it is so annoying to have influencers and reps be total dirtballs, but it is.

This winter I bought a new snowboard. Salesman and I worked out what I was looking for (size, terrain, conditions, Etc. )and came up with one they had in stock. It was a pro model for someone I had never heard of, which is easy because I don't follow pro snowboarding at all.

It was even old school camo, kewl.

Got home and googled the company and read about the guy behind the pro model. Some random to me guy from WY who likes to snowboard the backcountry. The company who made it was Arbor. The model was the "Carter" Now I'm sure some of you can tell where this is headed.

Few months later I run across an article about Mark Carter the snowboarder and his involvement in "Operation-10 Sleep" . Which was only the biggest poaching case in the history of Wyoming. Mark Carter the snowboarder is a felon for wildlife crimes. Mother(*^(*^(*^


Not sure how I missed this. I rode that snowboard only 3 times and liked it. I now hate it. Anyone want to buy it?
