New threat to 2nd A?

First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

You will notice the term (The right of the people peaceable to assemble)

I have not seen any video of the peaceful assembly. The incidents involving deadly force are far from peaceful. The latest shows the subject resisting arrest while carrying a weapon. Everyone has jumped to a conclusion and there are many response's that should be reserved until later after the investigation is complete. Maybe it was a bad shoot or maybe it was a good (legal) shoot. Time will tell.

Lower the temperature here it's getting ridiculous.

I likely don't have to worry about this happening where I live. If it was happening here, I'd be defending the right of my fellow citizens to film and observe government agents. If I'm an advocate of the 2nd Amendment, which I am, I'd better be an equal advocate of the 1st Amendment (which includes filming government officials), which I am.

Add in the fact that there is a lot of evidence to show that these government agents are doing a lot of things that violate the 4th Amendment of US citizens. Not just what I see on videos, but what I hear from family and friends who live there. If I get pissed when my 2nd Amendment rights are infringed, I better be just as pissed when someone's 4th Amendment rights are infringed. I'd likely be in the streets trying to protect the 4th Amendment rights of my neighbors when there was a well-documented pattern of government agents violating those rights of folks (other than us white dudes).

When I watch the videos of this most recent shooting, I can easily envision myself getting caught up in the same situation. Again, I think about if it was happening where I live.

If it was happening here, with the same level of shit my family and friends say has been going on in MSP, I'd be there observing, hoping to make sure 1st and 4th Amendment rights were honored. If some dude comes over to the curb and tips over a woman who was not obstructing him or his work, I'd likely put myself between a government agent and the woman. There's a good chance I'd be the guy who gets pepper sprayed. I might end up with four or five government agents holding me down, as I'm not inclined to stand by as my fellow citizens have the shit kicked out of them for exercising their 1st Amendment rights of filming government agents. That's what this guy did, from all of the videos I've seen, no matter the angle filmed from.

I struggle to understand why the rights of citizens need to be infringed for Federal agents to complete their work. The US government has been able to conduct immigration raids in the past without violating the 1st and 4th (and now 2nd) Amendment rights of innocent citizens. I have an expectation that they will do the same today. They surely can, if they place a priority on protecting those rights. That seems to be a big "if."

Nobody wants rapists or murderers here illegally. Most everyone wants to help in ridding their neighborhood of such people. Nobody is "harboring" or protecting such criminals (protecting pedophiles seems to be OK to some in government). It is not "rioting," it is not illegal, to show up to make sure the Constitutional rights of innocent citizens are not violated in the government's efforts to capture and deport the criminals who are here illegally. Lots of conflating and bullshitting going on.

The FAFO rationale is hard to understand. It comes with the implication that our Constitutional rights are somehow subordinated when government agents are involved. Eff that idea. If you're a 2A guy, this entire process should have you concerned. It has me concerned, and not just for 2A, rather all rights granted to US Citizens under the Constitution.

Only a few of us are actually there, making us reliant on what media sources we consume. When the WSJ, an outlet owned by Murdoch/Fox, starts providing evidence to support some of the worst examples of infringement, my comfort level in what is being reported gets a bit higher. And some of us have the benefit of knowing people who live there and have been dealing with this. Even my family and friends who voted for DJT think what is going on is completely out of hand. Yeah, they feel their governor is a poor example of leadership and his responses have partially contributed to the escalation, but they mostly point to the Federal agents, likely untrained for these situations, acting like the Constitution is merely a roll of ass wipe.

Carry on. Keep it civil and this thread will stay open.
Randy, don’t tell me you give one second of your time to anything Faux news…

Trust the administration who literally called the guy an assassin, before his body was even cold, to do a fair and thorough investigation? No thanks. I think I’ll trust my own two eyes on this one.

I’m not going to wait for an investigation to tell me what I saw. Especially when the federal government blocked the local government from the investigation. There is no maybe. It was an extremely unprofessional f-up at best.

And therein lies a major problem. The White House as a whole has a very difficult time telling the truth. You have high ranking officials putting their spin and narrative on these events before the body is cold, despite video evidence that contradicts their narrative.

There is absolutely no trust for me in this administration and as such their entire agenda now lacks legitimacy. It is performative politics at best.

How would a civil suit not happen? Anyone connected to him could one.
A dozen reasons. Claims of absolute immunity, which though not true, would nonetheless be enforced. Not allowing any evidence (assuming it still exists) to be brought to a trial, never identifying who the masked shooter(s?) are. And so on.

As bad as things are they could always be worse. The Minnesota governor could be the Vice President.
Certainly not true. This man would be alive if that were the case, as would Renee Good, and others. Why would you even say such a thing that is very obviously not true. BTW, Walz has apparently done a good job of backing Trump into a corner enough to change the guard and send home at least a few of the occupying force. What the heck is the matter with you?

VIdeo shows people standing accross the street from agents taking video. Agent then crossed the street and approached the people and escalated the situation, violating their first ammendment rights. Agents then further escalated by pushing people around, pepper spaying them, and killing one, violating their 4th, 8th, and 14th ammendment rights.
It is clear the 50 days of streamlined training agents now get must have eliminated instruction on our constitution, defensive tactics, arrest and control, deescalation, crowd control, and use of force.
I trust my eyes with what i saw in the video and not an agency conducting an invesigation with a history of conducting critical incident investigations with an objective to reduce civil liability.

Just FYI if you only watch news from 1 source, ICE is not driving around and targeting criminals. They have been going door to door looking for brown people and arresting them if they don't have "papers" I have 2 family members who are volunteering to pick up people at the Whipple building and take them home after they are released hours or days later. Their crime, being brown. Alot of the people who some think are protesting, are just there to document what is going on because 30% of the USA population doesn't believe this is actually happening.

Your right to think what you want.

They are detaining good human beings and the people in this state care about their neighbors and are fed up with it. The majority of protestors are trying to protect their community members.

I know I’d support ICE if they were doing what they claim they are doing. Unfortunately, that’s a lie.
Was talking with my friend from Texas last weekend. He sent this and said it was ok to share.

“Also they are not just picking up the worst of the worst.

One of my roofers was up there doing a roof, with his legally purchased truck and trailer, with his US registered business, and zero history of criminality or drug use and he’s been locked up for months. I paid $4000 to post his bail and the judge refused to let him out. They are sending all illegals home and that is bad and burning good people’s faith. They always say targeted pick up but they are not all targeted. It’s just a massive drag net - my guy even had all his paperwork in go asylum and a pending court date that that threw out - it’s crazy. His wife has no income now and 5 mouths to feed which we are helping every week.”

And now more coming out about abuse and SA at their little “camps” ICE is setting up.

History sure likes to rhyme if not repeat.

Trump is the BIG deal maker, desperately wanting those MN voter rolls (wonder why), Walz needs to come to the table here….the MN rolls for the full, un-redacted Epstein files. Will BIG DEAL TACO take it??

They already came to an agreement. Lessened ice presence, shithead Bovino and Ice Barbi are gone. Homan is taking over who’s at least experienced and competent.
