I’m glad the AG is wrong or Border Patrol would’ve killed me about seven times last month. Pretty hard to go through their checkpoint while hunting without having a gun.

You should be able to approach federal agents with a gun as long as you aren’t brandishing it.

ICE is a dangerous joke. Masks, no probable cause, etc. They remind me of those guys you went to high school with who "almost" became a Navy Seal, or "could have" been in the CIA...but now can't pass a reading test and get winded going up stairs. And now they have guns and too much ego. What could possibly go wrong...

From the many videos out on the interwebs, it is plain to see that the victim never brandished or reached for his firearm and was disarmed by agents before they fired on him. Obviously, more could have occurred before the recordings that show something other than that, but the videos I’ve seen do not.

IMO, labeling the victim as a domestic terrorist blows past the boot licking stage and goes directly to taint licking. Sorry if that’s too graphic, but so is shooting a man on his knees that’s been disarmed.

Anyone who thinks this man was out of line by having a legally concealed firearm on his person should also be critical of folks like Kyle Rittenhouse and all the AR toting hardos that posture at Trump rallies and the like.

I’ll see myself out now.

I consider myself pretty conservative and I think most would label me pretty far right of center. This whole thing disgust me more then anything the current presidency has done. They murdered that young man it wasn't a shooting it was a execution. And now the narrative being put out is he's a terrorist for taking advantage of his constitutional rights. You know those things law enforcement are suppose to be upholding not killing people for expressing.

If a thorough and unbiased investigation isn’t conducted, if Noem and others within this administration don’t correct their blatant propaganda and are held accountable for it, if this is allowed to be swept aside for the next big distracting news story, then I believe this marks a real death blow to the rule of law. When Constitutional rights are so publicly violated and dismissed by those in authority without accountability, we accept the sort of tyranny that the Constitution was designed to thwart.

I’m calling on my Congressional representatives to uphold the rule of law.

My two pennies:

Personally, I think the decision to concealed carry a handgun, while going to monitor ICE interactions was a bad one. If anyone I knew was going to do that, I would passionately plea with them to reconsider.

That said, he was carrying that gun legally and he did not brandish it, or threaten law enforcement with it. In my opinion, it is literally impossible to both support the current interpretation of the 2A and current laws on carrying firearms (in Minnesota), and defend this shooting. You have to choose.

And regardless of where you come down on that, we should all be able to agree that the responses to the shooting from high-level members of the current administration, like Kristi Noem, are dishonest and dangerous.

I'm more than willing to concede that there's always more to a situation than what is porteayed, which is why I'll hold judgement until there is an actual investigation.

But... Is the rule of law the MOST important thing? Elections have consequences. As has been established quite clearly in thread after thread, this is what the majority of Americans want. This is #winning. Are "we", those who didn't vote for this, doing more harm by fighting against it? I might offer a perspective that fighting it provides the villain necessary to continue these operations. We can't pretend this is the 60s, we're in an entirely different reality.

So you’re saying it would be better to let the house burn to the ground just to prove a point? I don’t accept that.

If we eschew the rule of law (and the shooting of Pretti is just the latest and most blatant domestic example of it) then the fibers that bind us as a nation completely unravel. I have kids, you have kids, and I KNOW that neither one of us wants our kids to navigate a world like that.
