Explain to me how minnesota is a third world shithole. I'm a new resident here and I don't see any shitholeness about it.

I'm calling you on that bullshit. Pony up.

It's pretty nice by me too. Hasn't radiated out this far from minneapolis yet.

The scary thing to me is how AI is changing the conversation. People are using it to upscale blurry video and presenting it as proof one way or the other. It’s very likely several of us have seen videos that have been altered and basing our view on it. How can we know what happened if you’ve seen a different “original” than I have? Pretty much the only thing I can guarantee is it’ll be used to divide us more.

Just seems odd to me that across this entire country we keep having problems in one single city. Offer stands if you want a whistle also you could take your soap box with you

It’s almost like it was a peaceful place before 3000 ICE agents showed up. 2/3 of the homicides in Minneapolis in 2026 have been perpetrated by .gov.

I likely don't have to worry about this happening where I live. If it was happening here, I'd be defending the right of my fellow citizens to film and observe government agents. If I'm an advocate of the 2nd Amendment, which I am, I'd better be an equal advocate of the 1st Amendment (which includes filming government officials), which I am.

Add in the fact that there is a lot of evidence to show that these government agents are doing a lot of things that violate the 4th Amendment of US citizens. Not just what I see on videos, but what I hear from family and friends who live there. If I get pissed when my 2nd Amendment rights are infringed, I better be just as pissed when someone's 4th Amendment rights are infringed. I'd likely be in the streets trying to protect the 4th Amendment rights of my neighbors when there was a well-documented pattern of government agents violating those rights of folks (other than us white dudes).

When I watch the videos of this most recent shooting, I can easily envision myself getting caught up in the same situation. Again, I think about if it was happening where I live.

If it was happening here, with the same level of shit my family and friends say has been going on in MSP, I'd be there observing, hoping to make sure 1st and 4th Amendment rights were honored. If some dude comes over to the curb and tips over a woman who was not obstructing him or his work, I'd likely put myself between a government agent and the woman. There's a good chance I'd be the guy who gets pepper sprayed. I might end up with four or five government agents holding me down, as I'm not inclined to stand by as my fellow citizens have the shit kicked out of them for exercising their 1st Amendment rights of filming government agents. That's what this guy did, from all of the videos I've seen, no matter the angle filmed from.

I struggle to understand why the rights of citizens need to be infringed for Federal agents to complete their work. The US government has been able to conduct immigration raids in the past without violating the 1st and 4th (and now 2nd) Amendment rights of innocent citizens. I have an expectation that they will do the same today. They surely can, if they place a priority on protecting those rights. That seems to be a big "if."

Nobody wants rapists or murderers here illegally. Most everyone wants to help in ridding their neighborhood of such people. Nobody is "harboring" or protecting such criminals (protecting pedophiles seems to be OK to some in government). It is not "rioting," it is not illegal, to show up to make sure the Constitutional rights of innocent citizens are not violated in the government's efforts to capture and deport the criminals who are here illegally. Lots of conflating and bullshitting going on.

The FAFO rationale is hard to understand. It comes with the implication that our Constitutional rights are somehow subordinated when government agents are involved. Eff that idea. If you're a 2A guy, this entire process should have you concerned. It has me concerned, and not just for 2A, rather all rights granted to US Citizens under the Constitution.

Only a few of us are actually there, making us reliant on what media sources we consume. When the WSJ, an outlet owned by Murdoch/Fox, starts providing evidence to support some of the worst examples of infringement, my comfort level in what is being reported gets a bit higher. And some of us have the benefit of knowing people who live there and have been dealing with this. Even my family and friends who voted for DJT think what is going on is completely out of hand. Yeah, they feel their governor is a poor example of leadership and his responses have partially contributed to the escalation, but they mostly point to the Federal agents, likely untrained for these situations, acting like the Constitution is merely a roll of ass wipe.

Carry on. Keep it civil and this thread will stay open.

I’m not sure I’d ever call Minneapolis itself peaceful. My wife works at a hospital there and has stories. But, Minnesota in general is a wonderful place to live. I do think if ICE was only targeting violent illegal immigrants you wouldn’t be seeing protests like this. But, that’s not the case. They are detaining good human beings and the people in this state care about their neighbors and are fed up with it. The majority of protestors are trying to protect their community members.

I know I’d support ICE if they were doing what they claim they are doing. Unfortunately, that’s a lie.
