New threat to 2nd A?

Several years ago, during Trump's first term, there was a really bad hail storm that rolled thru. There was an inch or two of golf ball sized hailstones on the ground.

Our biggest insurance settlement was reroofing the house and a small shed. We worked with a well known roofing contractor. The crew that came out was eight Hispanic men. The lead man was nearly as old as I was. Our roof is a bit steeper than a typical roof line. They started early, while there was a bit of the morning coolness left. The summer sun soon had it plenty warm.

Somewhere in mid afternoon, I asked one of them if they had a beer preference. He told me Carona would work. So I bought a case, iced it down, and cut up a few limes. I placed the cooler by their main truck. After they finished up, they drank the beer, and visited among themselves. Then they left, and certainly did a similar job the following day.

I pondered that some of them, or maybe all of them might be undocumented. What I was certain of, is all of them worked ambitiously, and professionally on our roof. I also knew they worked that hard, day after day. There is a good chance they were sending money back home to their families.

I agree that a secure border is a good and needed thing. What I won't do is hate on someone who is willing to work so hard to make their way in this world.

Same thing x2. But I was not smart enough to buy them beer. I should have. They deserved it. The second time, there were a few women with them that picked up stuff, gophered for tools and nails, and made sure lunch was ready when they took a break. I did not get the idea that they were paid, but just the women folk supporting their men. In any event, with massive numbers of roofs to replace over a 4 state area, these were the people that got it done by working hard.

Your description of Dems there sounds like Republicsns in MN...no one who doesnt support wildly inaccurate conspiracies and beliefs can get out of a primary...dems are much more diverse and tolerant of differences.

What's extreme on GC measures varies wildly in my experience. We saw a red flag law passed here a few years ago that allows temporary separation of guns from people expressing violent desires or with mental health issues deemed a risk for violence, if a judge so orders.

There are people who think thats extreme...I dont agree.
Both parties suffer from purity tests for sure. Nothing tolerant about current CO Dems in the General Assembly.

Regarding red flag laws, the devil is in the details. As constructed here, a gun owner loses any semblance of due process when an order is levied on them from an anonymous accuser. No ability to contest it. I suppose the legislators believe the public safety benefit outweighs the constitutional rights of the individual. Then must prove they are no longer a danger to achieve cessation of the order. Hard to prove a negative.

Just today they introduced a bill that would ban private transfer of firearm barrels, require FFL transfer and record keeping of any purchase or transfer of a firearm barrel. No public safety benefit, just more regulation to squeeze gun owners and the industry while building out a registry and surveillance state aimed at lawful gun owners. We are expecting more bills this session. Multiple reports they are planning to run a state-level ban on all NFA items, including suppressors. They are keeping it under wraps until official introduction as to limit pushback from suppressor owners. Colorado is gonna be Archery-only in a few years at this rate!

Heartwarming kinda like The Shawshank Redemption.

Thats just part of the reason why. Going after states with a MUCH worse problem with immigrant violence--MN has little to none--means going after RED STATES.

Oh and by the way, Alex Pretti grew up in Green Bay I believe. WI has been a swing state, We bicker about the type and color of our headware but I'm guessing this is moving WI further towards solidarity with MN and voting blue.

I think it may be a serious tactical misstep by the administration. They were scoring points with all the press coverage of Minn Somali fraud, really winning the public opinion battle. They even got Walz to pull out of the Gov race. The ICE raids and subsequent shootings has completely overshadowed that and shifted public opinion in the other direction.

I foresee a course correction soon. I think Noem has become a liability and is toast. There is no MAGA if they lose a decent portion of gun owners.

Wait a second, you’re telling me the left believes the 2nd Amendment is now valid and no longer a vestige of slavery-weapon of white supremacy?

Hallelujah!
The government is asking us to believe lie after lie. A lot of voters are going to believe what they are told to believe IF they think their side is winning.
That was a non partisan statement. But it is obviously accurate today.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor safety

Walz was in trouble anyway but that was a huge mistake. As noted by many republicans in this state.

Why? Amy Klobuchar.

The most popular federal politician in the state by far. She has trounced all opponents handily even when elections overall have tipped red.

She is going to take Walz's job in a bid for governor. She will appoint someone to serve out her term as US Senator until that is up.

Don't believe me?

The lead republican in the governors race--a fellow that had a lot of momentum, Chris Madel suddenly dropped out a few days ago, saying

the situation had “expanded far beyond its stated focus on true public safety threats” and become “an “unmitigated disaster.

United States citizens, particularly those of color, live in fear,” Madel said. “United States citizens are carrying papers to prove their citizenship. That’s wrong."

Madel said he’d personally heard from non-white police officers who’d been harassed by ICE.

Driving while Hispanic is not a crime, neither is driving while Asian. I cannot support the national Republicans’ stated retribution on the citizens of our state. Nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so.

National Republicans have made it nearly impossible for a Republican to win a statewide election in Minnesota,” he said.

Anyone see the recently released vid of Pretti's prior dust up with ICE?

I had to scour the Internet for it. But I found it. BBC has the original video but I didn't find it there quickly looking. I still feel the same way I did below.
Like any of the controversial shootings that get covered like this - people painting things in black and white aren't seeing things for what they are or might be. Take time before reaching conclusions especially absolutist ones....

Maybe if he’d had a direct blast of pepper spray to the face the first time, he’d still be alive today.
I was waiting for someone to point out that the police would have had no idea that he was a potential threat to them and Im an idiot for suggesting that.

He should have been issued a citation/arrested at the very least. No idea how you spit on a federal agent and damage their vehicle and don't get that.

Anyone see Omar's press conference? That was weird.
Another case of believe your eyes, not what you are told

Trumps response upon hearing of that incident?

"She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her"

He has lobbed vile and false insults towards Omar for years, and we think that it is weird?

No just another MAGA idiot doing what he thought was needed.
