New Illinois bill wants handgun ammo serialized

This thread isn't about narratives or politics. It is where people can come wallow in their own complaints about the politics in the places they freely choose to live. Let them wallow. They are having fun.
Some of us are pretty much stuck here due to family matters. I don't like talking politics but the people in charge here sure are doing some stupid things and the population living in the part of the state NOT in Chicago or Springfield have little to no say in those things.

Wallowing in your own political complaints is only allowed for a select few here Dave, who are professionals at it. Be glad you're not in the club.

I will be crappie fishing southern IL quite a bit over the next couple months. Primarily, Rend Lake, Lake Egypt or Lake Kincaid.
Im leaving southern illinois to go to mississippi crappie fishing on sunday. I know guys in minnesota that go to canada to fish while guys in illinois go to minnesota. Funny how that works.

Complaining has replace conversation. That is the core problem. Some don't even want the hint of conversation, only want imply some neutrality by asking to "not talk politics" but only responding to those things they don't agree with. Also odd, no one has even tried to defend this bill. Certainly not me. You seem to be in a bad mood. Hope you get out of it soon.

Sorry @Dave N, it has been that way since 1837 through politicians of all stripes. Politicians aren't very smart which is why they choose that field. Citizens need to be engaged and informed. It makes the complaining have a little more impact.

Saw this gem today. I always ask myself, is there any limit to the extent and number of gun control laws? Will the anti-gun proponents ever be satisfied? Likely not until the populace is disarmed.

I think this is a really important observation.

Gun owners can go on the offensive and work on things we know would reduce gun violence, and in the process we'd find more allies. Not the "eliminate the NFA" type of offensive, but one where we start to show up with ideas or efforts designed to reduce the conflict and approach the issue from it's absolute core: lack of access to healthcare for mental issues (suicide is the number one cause of gun deaths in the USA), and helping people in areas known to be hotbeds for gang activity find their paths out, and towards the middle class.

Guns aren't America's problem. Hopelessness is.

I've certainly watched you do you share of complaining about politics in a country you freely choose to live in. So you'll have yo excuse me if the irony gets a little annoying.

But I’m open to conversation. You seem easily annoyed.

The Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) law went into effect in 1968. It mostly just something for legal gun owners to complain about at this point. Legality certainly isn't in question. It hasn't been very effective, but suggesting anything new just results in more complaining. That is how we got this as a wedge issue. Politicians won't change it.
Sure. Start something new that isn't a tax on legal gun owners. Everyone is complaining because this is like FOID 2.0. Just another money grab that will equate to zero crime stopped. Thats why everyone hates anything they introduce new. We all know what's coming every time. Especially when it comes from a certain side of the aisle in this state.
