I found this site a few weeks ago and have been reading quite a bit. I guess an introduction is in order.
I have lived in Idaho all my life, and started hunting as early as I could. I'm the only hunter in my family, so my experience level is far behind many of you here. Most of the time I hunt alone. I have done one solo backback hunt.
Elk hunting is one of the highlights of each year for me. So far, I have not killed a bull. After several years of trying various spots in southwest and central Idaho, I finally found a spot that I really like hunting. This will be my third year there, with another cow tag. If after this season I have enough confidence in my knowledge of the area and finding elk in it, I may try for a bull tag in the same area next season.
Besides elk, I like hunting deer and waterfowl. I used to do a lot of pheasant hunting, but there aren't many birds around my area any more.
