New Countdown for 1-pointer and me....

She was playing you Greeny.

I've been chicked and fat manned while running races. I ran quite a few races while training for my marathon. Some 70-year oldish man with a shirt that said "Running for Jesus" on its back beat me in every race and I was running mid 7 minutes and below. When the bastard passed me with about two miles left in my marathon, I seriously thought about tackling him.

Races can be humbling.

Good luck.

Rode the 'hotter'n hell hundred' a couple years ago...appropriate title, temp and distance. At every rest stop a 300 lb. guy on a cheapo mountain bike rode thru while I was stopped...that sumbish almost finished ahead of me. The best thing I saw was the greyhounds on the two thousand dollar bikes wilting & sitting in the shade of a steel fencepost.

Says they are going to make it a "green" race and hand out small trees at the finish line. I'm more or less looking forward to the large chest and ice cold beers with my friends... Last year, we were the only ones gulping down beer at the finish. There may be shots of tequila this time as well.

Reading about getting "chicked or fat-manned" in a race reminded me of a humbling experience about 5 years ago.

Was running in a 5K in Idaho Falls, thought I was doing well.....looked to be in the top 3 in my age group.....then all of a sudden, I was passed by a guy pushing a stroller with twins in it. No $hit.

About 15 years ago, some buddies and I did a 125 mile, 2 day bike race from Tucson to Phoenix. When we finished, my friend busted out some victory cigars and we kicked back and enjoyed them leaning up against a tree. We noticed a few dirty looks and realized that the main sponsor (and benifactor of the race fees) was the American Cancer Society!!!:eek::eek: OOPS!!!

Years ago, we were going up Mt. Whitney and every time we stopped, this little old lady that had to be 75 would pass us. She was going up slowly, but I don't think she ever stopped. I think she had an oxygen bottle when she made it to the top, though. ;)

No worries Moosie. Good catching you today.

I've been chicked, but never fat-manned. I am the fat man, I just always come in last! Last tri I did, I got passed on the last half mile of the run by a girl, age 14 (age was written on everyone's calf)... Talk about getting the ego kicked in the nuts!

No, I just need to convince Moosie to join me in shaving up for the event! ;)

Greenhorn- Good luck and be safe! BTW, beer at the finish line in Rexburg might just have to happen!!!

It was a good day. I did my fastest time: 4hr39min. I got 28th overall, and was in the top 10 of my age group. About 300 runners, so I'm pretty happy. Some chicks got me, but not many.. one helped me out with advil and lots of water with about 7 miles left when I cramped up and had to stop. My friend Kevin caught me with 5 miles to go and beat me by a minute, but it was great to run with him for a couple of miles. Best shot of the day is when Lely finished... Kevin handing him a cold one on the finish line.

Very nice!!!! Congrats on a killer time!!

'Course a keg stand at the finish would've been CLASSIC! ;)

Dude.. thats Awesome !!!! Lilly looks like he's going to be sick before he drinks the beer :) :)

Do you guys have some sort of GPS tracker to know were your buds are at ? Or is it just by chance when you pas each other or at the finish line.

What was the distance again ? Around 18-19 right ? so about a 15 min mile for 4.5 hours over rough terrain ? Shiiiizzz man, thats crazy !!! Maybe 1-pointer and me will join you next year if I can finish my little race next week. ;)

No gps and it's right at 20 miles if you take the steep route from the M. It was just by chance that Kevin and I finished so close. Mike, Kevin and I all were in the 2nd wave that started 5 minutes after the 1st. There were 5 or 6 waves. I started off fast and Kevin caught me with 5 miles to go. He could see me from several hundred yards off mooching water from a couple of girls and started yelling.. "You better start running.. you're going too sloww" I yelled back, "You don't have a chance fat man." He caught me on Baldy and we can about 3 miles together. I was hurting cramping and he pulled ahead just above the M. The photographer for the runners this year was on the steep downhill of Baldy where Kevin and I were side by side.. should be a great photo.. who knows. Was a great day. As I suspected.. my pal's girlfriend Sabrina got me. She finished behind me, but started in a wave after me.. Looks like 8 girls got me. The little brunnette in the last photo above was the girl winner this time. I'm okay with it. :(

So you guys pack your own water with yah huh ? Did you run out ? or were you jsut trying to hook up with some hotties ? :D :D

There's 4 aid stations with water. I didn't think I needed that much so dumped my water belt at the halfway point with Kevin's wife. and carried a small bottle.. which wasn't enough to make it to the Baldy station. I started cramping up in the legs, felt fine, just couldn't walk.. Had that girl not helped, I probably wouldn't have been able to finish. I gulped down a lot at Baldy and the last one just above the M. I see I'm going to be short a few toenails..

Sure, throw me under the bus! I'm in if you are, but I'll only sign up AFTER you and miller do!!! :D

Greenhorn- Way big congrats on your time. Heck, for me just finishing would be good enough, but that is a killer time.

Moosie, I think you owe it to yourself to sponsor some folks to do this race and a post-race BBQ and kegger! :D Make sure to bring some pre-mixed White Russians for Miller...
