It took me 7 years of applying to draw this tag, and it all came together today. I have been out the last 2 weekends, had a lot of close encounters, and lucked out today. Heard this guy gobbling early, and he was heading up the mountain. Followed him up until I finally spotted him in a clearing, crawled through some trees to cut him off, spotted him and got to work. This is my first turkey, and it's definitely addicting! Even better to have my 17 month old son along for this special day. 9 1/2" beard, 1 3/8 spurs.

On a different note, I am planning on sending him to Hazel Creek taxidermy in Missouri. This will likely be my only turkey, and I want the mount to look good. Any turkey guys recommend anyone else, or am I on the right track?

Dainer are you saying you had your year and a half old kid with you while chasing the turkey?? Salute!!

It is really addicting, this turkey thing. Congratulations.
