.....For a safe room in my new place. I'm building a basement on my new place in the spring and I want to have a small walk in safe room. I've found doors the range from $2k to $15k. I really only need an inexpensive one. It's more for Show.

You clowns usually are resourceful and have some good idea.s Anyone with a hookup or an alternative option that won't cost a fortune ?

I get them for about $1200 here in OK. Freight to ID might kill you though. I don't know.

Google: MMD Wholesale Muskogee, OK

Safe room? We're not going to see you on an upcoming episode of Doomsday Preppers are we? ;) :D

moosie, what you want is a commercial steel door with a steel jamb. Like in a locker room, commercial building etc. We call them "knock down jamb doors" back in Indiana. Very strong, put any type of locks you want in them and you are ready. If you spend more than about 350.00 you aren't looking hard enough.

The same type of door used in most schools and hospitals.
They are available in different gauges, frame mounting systems, and fire ratings.
If you were in central Calif. I could hook you up, a friend of mine owns the local company that custom builds them. Not as strong as a safe door, but strong enough with a couple of dead bolts and a welded frame.

you pay cost of materials + pay $$$ or cool pro deal hunt stuff = I'm not out of pocket loss... I'll be your huckleberry! pm if you seek a good welder for shnitz & grinz fun price. I'll sven drive it out. :)
