Need help with selecting tire chains...

Hey all, I drive an '05 trailblazer and with my new found interest in getting back into the country I will need chains at some point.
What can anyone tell me about tire chains?, prices expected?, best place to buy?, etc.

I like the v-bar designs or anything with a cross bar...grips ice better than a regular chain.

I think about $100 will get you a set, I'd probably buy 2 sets though. Make sure you have quality tightners as well, and try the chains on before you need them...

You can get them on-line, most all tire shops sell them, etc.

I hate nothing more than putting chains on, but they have gotten me out of a lot of bad deals. Also, if you're having to chain to get into an area I'd think about it pretty closely, when you get stuck with chains on four...you're done.

Even with chains a person still gets stopped once and while.

They are a catch 22. Like Buzz said you don't want to get stuck with all 4 already on, but putting them on after you are stuck BLOWS. Still nice insurance to have at times.
