Gonna go to my first nascar race at talladega in October. Was wondering what you guys who have been there thought about your experience. What is your guys favorite track?

I've been to 5 different tracks but haven't been to Talladega. 6 if you count Indianapolis, but that was for a car show. My favorite of them all is Bristol. Been to 3 races there including the 1st dirt race. Awesome place. Don't know where your seats are but I strongly recommend going down to the fence to catch them coming around past you.

Bristol. Used to go to a lot of short track races when I lived in NC. North Wilkeboro, Rockingham, Martinsville. Those little towns lived off of those races. Was sad to see NASCAR go almost completely corporate - favoring the urban super speedways.

My wife and I have been to several. Bristol night race is definitely the best environment. Kansas is one of our favorite tracks, the racing is really good with these new cars and there’s a ton to do not far from the track. If you want to pony up there’s a hotel within walking distance and you’re staying with a lot of the teams. Daytona is similar, I’d love to go back for a 500. Dega is worth the trip (can be awesome racing) but it’s a pain because it’s in the middle of nowhere. You have a good drive there and wherever you’re staying (unless you camp) and the traffic is horrible.

Watched a Bristol race in Taos with a good friend who has since passed. He was a longtime NASCAR fan & explained the novelty and tactics specific to that track. Changed my entire perspective of the sport.

I have yet to go to a race, now that I'm retired, no excuses. I like the short tracks over the cookie cutter mile and a halfs and the super speedway. Although lately with the new car, the cookie cutter tracks have had good racing. I like the road courses, but people say they are not great to watch at the track.

I like the Sonoma track. My wife has an old coworker friend in the bay area she could visit, do some wineries, and catch the race. Possibility #1.

The 2 tracks closest to me to drive to would be Vegas and Kansas. Make a spring camping trip to Zion/St George area for a week or so and go to the Vegas race for the day. No desire to do anything else in Vegas. Drive to Kansas and camp at the track. Racing has been very good lately. Never been to Kansas or Missouri, might be fun. Possibility #2 & 3.

SIL lives in Raleigh area. Visit them and go to one of the many tracks close to there. Possibility #4.

Go to Daytona once before I croak and watch the wreck fest. That should be a requirement.

Been to a bunch, but Rockingham was my favorite.
Not a restrictor plate fan at all, so I try not to watch those.

Thought it was worth mentioning here that we have a Hunttalk Fantasy racing league going. If any of you are interested in joining us for the season just let me know and I'll give you the info on how to sign up. Free to play, nothing won but bragging rights. Trash talk highly encouraged! ;)
