This coming Monday, the 16th I start my new job working for the Nature Conservancy up here in Hells Canyon. Should be alot of fun and some hard work and walking for the summer. Should also get me into good shape for this fall when it really matters. I'm sure I'll scope out some good hunting territory, hopefully I can convince Idaho to give me an elk tag in the area this fall. I should find some sheds to, which is always a nice work bonus. Anyways, I won't be around as much since I'll be out of town Monday-Thursday, but I'll be around on the weekends, hopefully with some good pics and stories. Heres a picture of where I'll be calling home most of the week.

Do you hear that grating sound? Kind of like fingernails on a chalkboard?

That is the sound of pure jealousy. It's beautiful..

I was thinking the samething Bill...You would think that Idaho woud spend a little of their money to at least fix the place up some hump Why I wouldn't be caught dead in a place like that

Note to self: Look into a place like that when you retire :)

Thanks guys, it does look like a bit of a fixer up huh? I'm looking forward to it. I've heard there are quite a few rattlers in the area, so hopefully they keep their distance. I'll be back Thursday or Friday to let everyone know how the first week went.

you're a lucky dog--have fun and don't tell anyone ,but me, where you exactly are and what you've seen--he,he--chris

Looks like a beautiful place to live! I am very jealous. Congrats to you. and please keep the pics and stories coming. We all envy you!

Neat,

My wife and I did the Hells Canyon "Mail Run" overnight jet boat trip about 10 years ago. Do they still deliver the mail that way in the canyon? Going to be a hot place to work this summer! Get some sheep pics.

It's gonna be hot. Take the sturgeon rod, and enjoy some warm evenings on the cool water! Take some pics of those monster rams!

Well so far its not too bad. The place itself is absolutely beautiful and there are mulies and absolutely huge turkeys all over the place. So far no bighorns or elk and no sheds. Next week I'm going to take my fishing pole and try and catch some fresh dinner and another day I'm planning to go higher up the mountain to where the timber starts and try to find some elk and elk sheds. Just as a reference I can look across the Snake River and see the Oregon/Washington border. The place is crawling with rattlesnakes which are scaring the hell out of me. Anyone got any tips on dealing with those bastards?
