My new nickname is "kissy Bear". I'm the guy that was attacked by a grizzly bear in Big Sky Montana almost 2 years ago. Thanks for the support and prayers. Thanks for letting people know that there was a GoFundMe, it's the only reason why my small business still is going.
I'm pretty much recovered as much as I can. I got out of the hospital in October of 2023 and was back on the mountain snowmobiling in November. A lot slower than I used to, but I think I am almost back to normal speed.
For anyone with questions you can ask.

Meateater’s article on the story.
I was in big sky that day and stopped to read the sign that blocked the trail. I remember reading the story later and re-reading the French kiss part… Absolutely horrific. I hope they get delisted…
Thanks for joining, Rudy.

I was over in Ennis at the time. The initial story left me shaking my head. I guided on the Peninsula for 20 years. Saw a lot of what bears can do, watched them run down and kill a moose, came back to the lodge one day and found the t-oneleven torn from one side of a cabin. That you survived is a remarkable story. I’ve known some tough people but you wrote the book on tough enough to survive. Welcome aboard.

The MeatEater article mentioned your firearm misfired and things went down hill from there. Was there ever any determination of why it misfired?

Thanks for joining HT and hopefully your recovery continues.

Pretty sure I wouldn't have the stones to set foot in the Gallatin Range or any other around here, after hearing & following your story from the beginning.

You are a determined & tough SOB. You will be a superhero here, and quite an asset to this HT site. So glad you've chosen to take part.

Will this keep you out of venturing in to bear country again? Amazing fortitude. mtmuley
