Had a fun season and had a few chances at mature bulls but couldn't quite get the job done. Running out of days to hunt and with the chinook fishing really hot (and I have yet to get out!) I didn't need any convincing. This guy came over 200 yards to my calling and I am almost positive would have been at 3 yards if I hadn't of killed him at 25. Once he got under 20 he would disappear into alders on the trail until he crested the rise I was on.

All public accessible land and DIY (except I got my wife to help pack:D) in a unit that is absolutely crawling with hunters any more. I need to start doing more out of state elk hunting....

Anyhow, meat in the freezer and heart steaks with X's in them for dinner tomorrow!

Kinda crappy pics but I was alone on a 45 degree slope so it was the best I could do.

First kill with the new Obsession Bows "Knightmare"! Love the bow! I have been shooting a Bowtech for years and a good friend bought me this one as a surprise for my birthday and I really like it. It's a killer!!

Well done! Much better pictures than I get hunting alone.

Congrats on a great hunt. They don't go very far with that kind of leakage in the pump station.

Thanks guys! I still need my one 7 point black-horn Roosevelt someday but I feel very fortunate to be able to sustain our family on wild game thru out the year. We have it good out West!!

Nice harvest, way to go! It's great that your spouse was willing to help pack out, that's an A+ deal.

She has often said that if it wasn't for the organic wild game I bring home she would probably be a vegetarian and she's always willing to help if it's not a school day. :)

Nice job. I've still never tried heart of any kind. I do have a beef heart in my freezer. I'm open to cooking suggestions.

Just got done slicing that one up.

Cut across the grain in thin slices (1/4") and toss in flour with some salt and pepper. Chop some onion up pretty fine and get it simmering in the pan in butter or olive oil then lay the heart on top of the onions. Once you turn it smother on top with more onions you sauteed in another pan. Dip in horseradish! Mmmmmm~
