Mrs Valleys High Desert Muley Hunt

So was perty shocked when my wife pulled this tag back when the draw results came out. NM and CO have had some fairly cold weather and a lil snow up high a few times so hopefully its moving some of those deer around. Never been to the unit before but have a friend that's hunted it. So got some pointers from him and have some areas to start in. Her hunt starts this coming Saturday. Looks like nights are gonna get down in the 20s while we're there and so far they are calling for nice weather in that area.

Getting some chore stuff wrapped and finishing up some work. Hopefully get mostly packed this evening so we can get gone in good time tomorrow morning.

Wife will be using my 270 on this hunt. Winchester model 70 pre 64 topped with a vortex viper with a kenton turret.

Just been a driving.... had to take the father's Tacoma. Mechanic was supposed to have my front end redone on my truck before the hunt but he didn't get it done. Looks like it's about a 5hr drive to where we leave the hwy.

Made it in and got camp set up. Saw a few does on the way in.

Saw a few more does this evening and a couple wild horses. No bucks spotted yet.

No posts. There is service there and you only hunt the early morning hours before they bed up. This can only mean one thing...dead buck!

I wish it meant a dead buck! This morning hiked into a area and only saw a few does! Than over noon drove over to another area and sat there all afternoon and evening. Saw 10 horses, 6 or 7 does, one spike buck and a couple small bucks that wernt scared of anything. Didn't have any service in the afternoon area. And forgot to post this morning before i lost service
