I had about the same thing happen to me some years ago, I was bear hunting sitting on a clear cut with my bow and arrows leaning against my shoulder and the yellow fletches were near my ear, a humingbird flew in un-beknownst to me and was about 6 inches from my ear just flapping his wings like crazy and making a lot of noise, I thought it was a giant bee until it dawned on me that it was a humming bird. it was pretty cool, still talking about it after 25 years
