Most overrated band of all time

Wow, U2 were innovators. I almost put With Or Without You for the best song of all time.
I get that. I would even agree that they have a few excellent songs that captured the moment in society very well. But they have been around for 40 years and gave a lengthy discography that no one ever plays on “random”. Not enough stuff for the label of Legendary that they are assigned.

There needs to be a definition of overrated because everyone’s is different. Nirvana had a very small window and it fit the moment, so calling them overrated is hard. Coldplay music isn’t exactly thought of as legendary, but they have been around for a long time. So many names listed I could both agree with and include a “but….”.

A lot of legitimacy here but also some absolutely unhinged responses. The goobers who typed Pearl Jam and Pink Floyd need to step outside, have a glass of water, and reassess their worldviews.

Of everything I've seen, I agree with Springsteen the most. I'll surely rock a few boats by adding the Grateful Dead. Some excellent guitar play over the years but mediocre song-writing and poor vocals (better with the addition of John Mayer).

Honorable mention Taylor Swift

I have to reluctantly agree, and it pains me to say that- they are ‘adjacent’ to the Allman Brothers (one of my favorites), but there is just something missing. It’s not for lack of trying, but I just can’t get into the Dead.

Hands down AC/DC. Trash

Edit to add: Tom Petty. I’ve never heard more Tom Petty and AC/DC as on the radio in MT. Both severely overrated. I could write a song with that effortless, juvenile “ABC” rhyme scheme myself, with his sound bite, and pass it off as an original Tom Petty song. Fuqouttahhere! 🤣🤪
