More MT poaching

What isn’t mentioned in the story (besides details on the charges, whitetail deer and bear poaching being left out) is that shortly after this occurred the landowner who had the elk shot and left to waste on his property, which kicked all this off, had his house and vehicle shot up by a high powered rifle.

The author of this article should be let go by the Helena IR, along with the editor responsible for allowing it to go to print for reasons that are self evident if you read the whole article.

I didn't read anything about the bear, but was there another whitetail that wasn't mentioned?

During the same trip involving Boyer, Cameron Wyant harvested a white-tail buck on the same land the following day, investigators found through cell phone and geolocation data.

Kyle Lehr, director of Big Game Records at the Boone and Crockett Club, told investigators the deer would have grossed a score "north of 140," after being shown a photo.

Further investigation into Boyer's Snapchat account showed a photo of him with a dead antlerless mule deer doe and geolocation data showed Cameron Wyant and Boyer were in the same location on the Marias River WMA on Nov. 6, 2022.

"Second Muley down did some doe management," a message from Boyer to his dad read, according in court documents.

Neither Boyer nor Cameron Wyant had the required deer hunting access permit, documents allege. On May 3, 2024, Boyer admitted to killing the mule deer doe on the WMA land.

No mention of the other 3 WT deer that were poached.

The biggest problem with the story is what was included, not what was left out.

Why? I've been faced with going to court to testify in game violation cases. I'll put my name out there. mtmuley
Because it might weigh on someone else who thinks about making a call but don’t want their name out there. This is why most TIPS ads say you can remain anonymous. Like I said, I don’t have an issue with it if the guy approved, but general journalistic standards would suggest keeping the name anonymous because it doesn’t add to the story.

Ok. We disagree. I would be proud to out a scumbag poacher. mtmuley

He wasn’t given the opportunity by the “journalist” to remain anonymous.

That’s you, and to each their own, some people don’t need the ego boost or the attention. Pride doesn’t rank high on the list of importance when it is very likely these were the same scum bags who shot up the LOs home and vehicle with a rifle.

It is not even an issue of disagreeing because there isn’t a right or wrong. It is just a matter of having different perspectives. The law allows for either approach because it needs help in finding poachers. A journalists job is to report the story. Someone wanting to remain anonymous, even if their name is in the public record, should be given that opportunity. We have to empathize. This should be easy to do when you can click on another thread with a story about a maniac shooting up a bar for no legitimate reason.

Empathy for those that abuse game laws isn't big on my list. mtmuley

I am so glad that stupid poachers are always the same stupid people that have to post stupid pics with he critter.

So dumb, they just cant help themselves.

That was in reference to “I’ll put my name out there.”

Not everyone wants to put their name out there. Seems like you are looking for an argument here, I’m not.

You should read that post a few more times, slowly or with a BAC of 0.0. Not sure how anyone can think that @SAJ-99’s post was asking anyone to view poachers with an empathetic lens.
Thanks. I will take it into consideration. Have a good evening. mtmuley
