I doubt this will ever be the case. At least not in my lifetime. My guess is eventually it will be the only way
Good on region 6 department for considering making a move. Hopefully region 7 does the same, it all ties together when you have a general tag that is valid for whitetail and mule deer and you add a pocket full of doe tags.
That’s what I’m hearing and seeing.Sounds like a lot of dead deer and antelope across region 7 as well. Be even more in 3 weeks
Ehd?Antelope dead all over R6 and whitetail and mule deer as well.
Yikes. I’ve been seeing the least deer in NE region 6 than I have since moving here 18 years ago. 2nd least upland game birds in that time. Saw 6 pheasants in a 60 mile drive scouting this morning on a beautiful fall morning.Antelope dead all over R6 and whitetail and mule deer as well.

It was decades behind in ‘95 because mandatory reporting or “registering” of deer was common practice elsewhere many years prior.I’m sure the phone survey was state of the art in 1995. But it isn’t 1995 anymore. It should be embarrassing to argue that the caller has to somehow coax the correct answer out of the hunter (which is impossible, even if it’s true that people can’t remember exactly). Almost every argument against the use of technology in collecting this data, be it government overreach, technology is too hard, or whatever else, should be seen as an embarrassment to the citizens of Montana.

It looks like we are going to ignore the issue for 2 more years.
Interesting changing some of r7 to gen archery for elk.Which should shock nobody
Every once in a while I get pleasantly surprised by a few of these proposals. No more unlimited OTC elk B licenses on national forest in region 5 is a win…December 4, 2025 Regular Meeting Of The Montana Fish And Wildlife Commission | Montana FWP

Where are you seeing this? I’m not seeing anything like that.Interesting changing some of r7 to gen archery for elk.
But yeah. Not too suprised.
Guess we can’t have nice things….Might have to start a Region 7 elk mismanagement thread. Can someone explain the proposal for region 7 elk? Sounds like they plan to increase an 150 permits for 702 and another 150 for 704/705 and you get the option of buying a second cow/calf tag? And still have the original 280 799/20 permits.
I swear thats different now? Weird afWhere are you seeing this? I’m not seeing anything like that.
