A black bear and two moose were spotted just east of here this summer. Pretty exciting for the locals to see that.

We seen moose every couple years and Black bears are getting more common. A grizzly I don’t think so

Looking at those likely corridors, I wonder why they haven't made it into the Salmon-Challis area.

IDFG confirmed a video taken in 2020 in the salmon area was a grizzly. It was believed to be passing through and/or not a resident bear. Not sure why the area doesn’t have more population although in parts of the area they would be highly visible and have some potential conflict with livestock, etc

Grizzly and wolves wouldn't last long in eastern Montana. Too bad might get rid of some hunters.

it was sure pretty driving through there (in the Summer) though

I love it there. That’s where I learned to elk hunt. Not many elk there but I would sure like to go back someday.
