Montana greenhead opener

Shoot one for me. Congrats!

OK. Picked up another limit this morning. Tried a new area and was not set up in the right spot. Had to move about an hour and half into the hunt to get our limit.

Event of the morning, three birds coming right at me, but I am looking into the sun. Heard a drake call and fairly certain he was in the lead. Boom, dead bird. I send GuNR and he pays no attention to the splashing bird and goes into the bulrush about 5 yards away from it and comes out with a dead bird then continues on to the flapper in the water. Brings them both back in one trip. Proud dad. Not so proud, he brings back a wounded bird and drops it at the boat, then takes off after another dead bird. Bird at the boat takes off splashing across the water. Too fast for me, so he took another shot to stop. Fun morning.

Do to the high water here the deer huntin sucks. So me and dad sat a flooded corn field this morning and managed to get into the wood ducks.

man I love duck bites. It might be the reason I kill any ducks. I bagged some ringers on the opener myself.

Looks like two great hunts. Our early split is in this week, but I've done it enough times to know the mosquito to duck ratio is way too high right now that it isn't worth a couple wood ducks. Incredible pictures also.

Nice work, Craig.

Some pretty good plumage on that 2nd limit for early in the year.

And as everybody else has said, excellent pics as usual.

You really have an eye for it.

Cheers!
