This is quite disturbing. Regardless of thoughts about wolves and wolf advocacy groups, the entirety of Region 3 did not have a voice on an important issue, and the commission was willing to violate the public's constitutional rights and have inappropriate meetings, including on issues like elk shoulder seasons.

"Additionally, the documents that were produced revealed that a quorum of members of the Commission participated in an email chain prior to the August 10 meeting,” the document continued. “In this email chain, the Commissioners discussed various suggested changes and proposals to the 2021-2022 Wolf Plan and elk shoulder season. All but one commissioner was copied on each email. At the August 10 Meeting, the Commissioners denied having discussed the proposed motion with more than one other person. The plans discussed in the chain were ultimately adopted at this meeting."

It’s a shameful situation, and I feel for Byorth for being the odd and sane man out.

Chances are your local Planning Boards, Your VFD Trustee Boards, your local Health Boards - they’re all being more mindful and careful regarding the principles of good governance and Montana’s Open Meeting Laws than these Commission Members were.

Sad.
