CO Gov appoints radical animal rights extremist as Director State Land Board

i mean, she will still answer to the board, no?

not downplaying her resume, or her ability to direct policy, but she's not gonna be in complete control over there.
Well, she will have an ally on the board with the appointment of anti-hunting, anti-agriculture activist James Pribyl to the state land board. Pribyl is a former CPW Commissioner and co-authored the controversial Op-Ed last fall in support of Proposition 127 along with current activist commissioners Jess Beaulieu and Jack Murphy. The Op-Ed violated commission policy and was chocked full of lies and false claims vilifying hunters. You would expect a wildlife commissioner to not intentionally traffic in falsehoods but honesty and integrity are not a selection criteria for appointments under the Polis regime.

Absolutely. This is Polis’ final term and this selection likely came straight from Marlon Reis. Rosmarino was already serving as policy advisor to the Gov for wildlife, agriculture, and rural development. That alone is incredibly insulting considering how much she despises hunters, farmers, and ranchers.
So you are saying term limits and the lame duck/don't have to care anymore situations they create are a bad thing, right?

Nope, not at all. Just stating a hypothesis as to why the Gov is making even more extreme appointments in this final term. Without term limits, Colorado sportsmen and women would have to suffer through another 4 years (or more) of an administration where they are consistently marginalized.

She looks like a recovering meth addict who just got dentures.
That's a really specific description. Almost like saying she looks like the lady hanging out behind the Murdoch's in Craig, next to the water bib. But not the same lady that hangs out next to the water bib at Mavericks off Bellaire down the street. In Craig.

Won't be long and hunting will be a thing of the past in CO. It has truly went the way of Commifornia.

In prison there are a lot of toothless meth addicts in forced sobriety who get dentures on the government’s dime. It is a very specific look. Add in the dubious “bison selfie” representing all the meth brain damage, and she fits the bill 100%

But what will change then?

I could be wrong but assume our states are more similar than different. Perceived as liberal, but much more moderate or split than perception.

There are just too many Boeberts or even loonier in the pub party (we have more than a few equivalents) so moderates or independents tend to vote blue because they appear more moderate and less crazy.

For one, the next Governor (R or D) will likely not have a spouse who openly advocates to eliminate hunting and production agriculture.

If the assertion is that Boebert (or other folks like her) shifted the political landscape in Colorado to solidly blue, then I believe that assertion is completely false. The shift of Colorado to a completely blue state is a very deliberate strategy carried out over the last twenty years that can primarily be attributed to four ultra wealthy, progressive, politically active Colorado multi-millionaires, one is the current Governor. This has been well-documented in the media. Dems now dominate every element of political power at the state level.

There is nothing moderate or centrist about the folks controlling the Colorado General Assembly these days. There was a time when Colorado was somewhat purple and moderate/centrist Dems ruled the day. That time has passed. It is complete crazytown.

I have wandered a long ways from the OP…… my apologies.

I assume our only recourse to these appointments is at Senate confirmation hearings?

I guess it’s possible that the Governor could withdraw the appointment if there was enough opposition from the public and elected officials. But it’s Colorado and our Governor has little to no regard for sportsmen and rural residents. I know the General Assembly rural caucus sent a letter expressing their opposition and I heard our county commissioners will likely do the same. Outside of that, challenging the appointments in the Senate during the next session is our only recourse.

Highly unlikely to withdraw.
He is a lame duck and exercising his power at will right now and will continue.

I suspect all appointees for upcoming positions will continue this trend of anti-sportsmen.

The web of cronyism and collusion between these folks is definitely aligned against Colorado sportsmen. Tutchton, Rosmarino, Reading, McCain, Beaulieu, Murphy, and Marlon Reis are all connected through Southern Plains Land Trust, Center for Biological Diversity, WildEarth Guardians, Defenders of Wildlife, and Rocky Mountain Animal Defense (now defunct). They all hold important positions on the CPW Commission and Habitat Stamp committee. Reading, who publicly endorsed Prop 127 lion hunting ban, is now the CPW Commission Chairman. He will be able to set the tone and agenda of the commission. Expect the active anti-hunting groups like CATS to gain lots of traction with him as the chair.
