Didn't put in. I get one otc, and can shoot a yard cow if it works. Otherwise I have to go to the neighbors. He has a tractor. Helps a lot. mtmuley

Always enjoy my time up there as well. None in our group pulled any tags there this year. Bummer

Not familiar and never elk hunted, but congrats on the tag. Should be an adventure for sure.

Probably gonna be a pretty tough hunt. That tag isn’t valid on national forest and there’s not that much state or BLM in that unit. Might wanna drive around on private, locate some elk and knock on the rancher’s door and see if they’ll let you shoot a cow

Not a mistake necessarily. It takes some time to figure out the western game. Only way to learn is to go try it out. There’s still a few chunks of state and BLM to check out. Don’t overlook block management either. Best of luck, hope you get one
