Randy, looks like your norwegian brothers got it right. so much for the PETA folks applying for licenses and not using/buying them. maybe some other states will learn from this?


New for 2011, bear lottery winners must purchase their license by July 29, 2011. Unsold and
any surplus licenses will then become available for one week to those that applied but were
not selected in the lottery starting August 3, 2011 at 12:00PM. August 10, 2011 at 12:00PM any
remaining unsold license will become available to anyone. Please look for a DNR news release
or check the DNR Web Site (www.dnr.state.mn.us) in late July, for further information.


LICENSE - $39.00 Resident, $201.00 Non-resident. Price includes issuing fee.

might be a chance for a backup hunt for ya. applied for unit 25 this year. hopefully, will be going back up to see the blondes and viking fans this september. thinking this new system may guarantee it.

It helps against the PETA tactics but truthfully there are a lot of people that fancy themselves as Bear hunters in April/May when application period is on because it costs absolutely nothing to apply. Then come time to buy the license and they don’t. The DNR didn’t /couldn’t do anything as they never had a deadline set for people to buy the licenses.

Good luck in 25. My cousin is a bear guide up there…I got a point this year and am thinking next year I’ll go with him.

don't know anybody that far north, so a DIY hunt is out of the question. if you want to tag along this year, we have a group of 4 going. always room for more.

well, after being told the group didn't get drawn, minnesota had a mix up with their computer system and had to re-do the draw. results came out, and we did get drawn. guess we will be heading north to Randy's homeland for a bear hunt this year. be in international falls in september.
