I should say that I am in favor of laws protecting children, but in my opinion adults should be capable of making their own decisions regarding their own safety.

Hmmmm. As much as I hate the SPEED LIMIT and the EXPENSIVE price I am going to pay for that ticket... I respect the laws because they are for the safety of myself and others

Just wondering.... So you are saying that when a Child turns 18 yrs old the seatbelt law should not be enforced??? I am not sure that would be fair??

That's right! At 18 a person is no longer a child.

So we should tell our children they have to wear a seatbelt cause it is a law, but explain to them that because we are over 18 we don't have to wear one....

Yes, explain to them that once they are 18 they are free to make their own decisions. At 18 a person can join the military and vote, I would think they would also be able to make their own decisions as to whether they want to wear a seat belt or a helmet.
