Man Shoots, Kills His Car

(Court TV) — Deputies in Broward County, Fla., could do little for the victim of John McGivney's shooting rampage.



The green 1994 Chrysler LeBaron LX sustained five gunshot wounds to its front hood and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.


McGivney, 64, allegedly shot his ailing vehicle at about 1:30 p.m. on April 15.


According to a police document, the Florida man walked out of his apartment with a loaded .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol and headed towards his car. An eyewitness told Broward County deputies that McGivney pointed the gun at the car's hood and fired five rounds. McGivney reportedly then told the witness that he was "putting the car out of its misery."


Broward County deputies responding to calls about the gunshots surrounded McGivney's apartment complex and ordered him to surrender unarmed. The suspect complied and was arrested.


McGivney was charged with a firearms violation and posted $100 bond the next day. The report from the sheriff's office listed the Chrysler as "deceased

OMG, that cracke dme up good, i htink guy on drugs, meant kill perosn, accidently wakce dhis car:Dj/k guess car was pice of chit, and needed to go to car heaven so he did it, i laugh like hell if i were the cop to the scene, hell leave guy alone he didnt do a big crime it more funny than naything, go do some real work, why so much crime they go after lazy stupid chit:MAD:

Probably wasn't too funny for families with children living in the same apartment complex.
