Down we go. From here we were still 15 air miles from our airstrip.

Going out heavy is always a good thing….

And, there is dry wood waiting!

So in two pictures meat is being cooked on heated rocks, ...is there not enough moisture in the rocks for them to burst?

Al and Dak have been doing it that way for years and I asked them the same question, they both said no.

Adventure of I don't know how many lifetimes. Pictures are amazing.I can't imagine seeing at firsthand.

Dead head that Al found and insisted on me taking it. It was also ten years old like the two we killed.
I got it plugged at Norman Wells.

Big shout out to my amazing wife who gave me this hunt as a gift…

FWIW, we left the day before our 28th wedding anniversary. I’m blessed to have her.

Huge thanks to Al, Dak, and Carson. The amount of work and effort that’s put into these hunts can’t be explained.

Also Tavis Molnar, owner and operator of ARRO, who as a boy grew up next door to Al Klassen. I remember years ago, Al talking about his 11 year old neighbor kid who wanted to go sheep hunting. Al being Al, took him out for his first ram at age 12 back home in the Yukon after guiding a full season in the NWT… that right there tells you a lot about the man’s character… and the boy’s…


And thanks to Russ Taylor for the support all along the way. I had great reservations about being able to do this hunt at my age…you’ve got the ability to lift the spirits of everyone around you, through thick and thin.
