Nothing like huckleberry pie in the dead of winter. Great crop this year, hit the southfork of the flathead on Saturday, only picked for 3 hours, got 2.5 gallons. Walked away from a huge patch with lots more. Probably should have gone back this a.m. but didn't.

Great job for a 5 year old, picking out leaves, needles, and stems.

Sorry, but you SUCK!
We are down to our last bag from last year and wife is going to use it for my birthday pie this weekend. Appears that we have another three weeks before we can start picking them.

mouths watering and im drooling on my keyboard, Thanks for that! jealous:D

Man, that is a bucket o berries! We went out Saturday, got about a gallon between 2 of us in 2 hours. Not as bad as past years, but you hit the honey hole!

That's good to see it's a good year for them. I need to make myself get out once, seems like we're usually a couple weeks later than you guys.

Did you measure the wet hide or skull on that bear? That thing looked like an angus...

Jeez, that is late! I want to go back one more time and hope they aren't over-ripe. Just way too easy to pass up this year. It was only a 60 x 60 yard patch of ground that we picked over, and they just kept going right up the hill. Freakin crazy awesome huckleberry patch. Shot in the dark, stopped the car and went in the woods.

Never measured wet hide. Skull is going to the beetle guy.

One quart in an hour of picking for me this evening. Tons of berries down this way. Not very big, but better than I was expecting given how dry it's been.

We've been picking for over a week but nothing like that, Holy cow that is a lot of berries. I finally found a bunch late yesterday but I might have to borrow your bear to make sure they are still there when I get back!!!

Damn! I am jealous. Headed out for blackberries in two weeks and huckleberries in three weeks. I hope the patch I am headed to produces even half of that. Nothing beats a huckleberry milkshake or fresh huckleberry pie! I am hoping to make a recipe this year with elk steaks covered in a huckleberry glaze with whipped bacon-cheddar potatoes.

Went out this evening to a patch I found on Saturday. It seemed someone beat me to them. There were enough left to make a desert of some kind. Pretty little berries, but I don't know what to expect in this neck of the woods (N. Fk., Idaho).

Well then.... You suck also! I would swear you gave me the coordinates, but can't seem to locate them?

Looks like some good picking Draaht, the South Fork has always been a good area for sure. The North Fork berries are just really starting to ripen up. Prolly this week should be great.

Yeah, good picking is on around Lake Pend Oreille. My dad went up to the Yaak (NW MT) and says they still need at least another week.
