I think he meant 1080yds is where the velocity dropped below that 1800fps threshold.
Could be, I was looking at the factory spec 180 ABs that are already down to almost 2300fps @ 500 from 3200 at the muzzle.

So you saying Accubonds don't shoot well or don't kill stuff? That bench rest shooters don't use them really doesn't mean squat in the hunting world, LR or not. mtmuley
I thought Big Sticks name was Larry, not Danny.
Sorry for busting balls but some people need to stop watching "best of the west"
you don't see benchrest shooters shooting accubonds for a reason...
I think you missed the point. There are a lot of people that have 'long range rifles' that have absolutely no idea what they're doing. They see the guys on the Best of the West dumping critters at long distances and they think there's nothing to it. So they buy one of their rifles, scopes, and ammo and all of the sudden they're long range shooters.
There's nothing wrong with a factory rifle as long as it shoots and is consistent.
He also brings up a good point about bullet choice and the effective killing distance of a bullet/cartridge. You may be able to put a bullet on target but it needs to have enough energy to do what it needs to do.
