Lightweight 300 WSM users- do you shoot 130-150 or 165 and up?

For my 300WM, I decided to work up the Barnes 175 LRX. So, if these 150s don't settle in pretty quick, they will be my next trial. If they fail, only then will I bracket with 165-168 or even 180 TTSX. I'm an OCD ( not really OCD, just having fun) , big Barnes fan, ha.

The little Kimber is a sweetheart! Just like you guys said, very easy to shoot the Kimber. The 300WSM Classic was super easy to shoot. It shot the best with 69.5/Big Game/150 TTSX and 65.5/R26/150 TTSX. I took all three rifles today to the range and shot them all in a Golf shirt! Easy cheesy! No chrono today and just testing the water out, so to speak. My little Kimber 84L/270/129 LRX loves 53.6/R16. My Bergara B14 Hunter 300 Win Mag ( I had a TT Special put in, set at 2#, and skim bedded) shot the 175LRX the best with 73/R23. 3 shots cut one ragged hole, wow! It was 70 deg, blustery wind too!

While adjusting for zero with the BergaraI ended up with a genuine fluke!....All three of those R23/73gr/175LRX went "exactly" 3 inches high at 100! ha, I'm leaving it alone for now. I will load up 5 or 6 rounds of this load now and chronograph. I don't care how fast its going, its got to be 2950 or so, maybe 3050fps, just guessing. I don't shoot past 400 anyhow and I use the Burris Ballistic Plex hash marks. This rifle was easy to shoot also.

Next I am going to try out the 168 TTSX. Anyone want to share their load dat with me? I promise to start slow. Both these Kimbers have tight chambers. The Bergara seems to be on the "tighter" side too, but not "as" tight as the Kimbers.

Don't be afraid of trying the 130ttsx in your 300WSM. My Kimber Montana shoots them well. What I really like about Barnes bullets is 130 grain in, 130 grain out, no loss.
Also very little blood shot meat due to bullet fragmentation, yes there is still secondary bone projectiles, but no bullets fragments scattered thoughout.

What kind of velocity are you getting out of those 130s??

I have loaded 180 grn accubonds for a few friends who have 300wsm in tikka t3lite ss. All shoot lights out! .75 inch groups at a 100yards with and not finicky with seating depth. R-22

180 grain accubonds. Not a fan of shooting the really light for caliber bullets with lower sectional density. Just me but I prefer to be on the heavier for caliber side.

If I want to shoot smaller bullets I grab a smaller caliber rifle from the safe. Changing up the recoil pad can make a big difference.

I'm sure I will get around to loading the 130 TTSX eventually, especially for antelope/mule deer. My last 270 (before this 84L) shot the 110 TTSX over Hunter into a wad, and was like a laser, though didn't get drawn for antelope ( I like to hunt the does on the Deseret Ranch).

Ooh Baby! I shot the 168 TTSX/R17 in 3 rd groups, no chrono. It was 83 deg (hot for us) at the range too, gave me a chance to see how R17 behaved ( beautifully Btw) 64gr went into .40" ( linear but not walking off, barrel is stable) and 65gr went into a nice, rounded .75". 66gr opened up to 1.5" and "felt moderately warm", still easy bolt lift. etc. I like this rifle! :)

Finally got to chronograph my loads today. The 168 TTSX/300 WSM/R17 64gr is going avg 3167fps, love it! The 300WM/175 LRX/R23 73gr is 3080fps. and the 129 LRX is humming 3160 (54.5gr) the 53.6 and 53.9 failed to repeat accuracy. I will seat my 129s a bit deeper and try 54.5 to 55.5 and see what happens. Both the 300s held their outstanding accuracy though! Whoopee! :)

I load 165-168 gr bonded bullet for my Sako A7 tecomate 300wsm. Recoil is not bad, my .308 hot loads were worse on my shoulder.
Hope you enjoy that rifle.

I use 210 accubond LR in my 300 wsm tikka t3 light shooting under 1/2 moa at 2860 fps with a super high BC.

180 Accubonds in a 300 Wizzum unbraked lightweight...same for a Kimber Classic Win Mag

I'm torn on which ones to buy for my new 300wm. Definitely want to buy some Federal TBTs. It's a mostly copper bullet with a lead center towards the tip. I use them in other smaller calibers and they are FANTASTIC hunting bullets.

165 or 180?
