Is never boring, even on a cold day.
They added an extra wheelhouse on top of this tug to see over the windmills.
After the barge with the windmills passed I headed upriver to a backwater area and the sand hill cranes were in the area. This doesn’t seem to special but sand hill cranes were extirpated from Iowa for over a hundred years but have began nesting again as Wetland conditions in some areas have improved. I also saw, but couldn’t photograph tundra swans. Nearly 1/4 of the worlds population of swans will be roosting on a 60 mile stretch of Mississippi River Backwaters first the next 3-4 weeks.
when I returned to town I stopped to get a bite to eat and the crew from the Samuel B Richmond decided they would take advantage of not having cargo and stop for a bite too.
