I got taken for $250 last week, and another attempt was made to scam me the same day.

Also, on another trusted website just yesterday, I sold a fellow a rifle for over $1400. He posted on my thread that he would take it and shared his number asking me to call him. I called him just a few minutes later, but he sounded confused to be hearing from me. He said that he was already in the process of sending funds for the rifle via PayPal, since he had gotten a text message from a guy pretending to be me.

You can't be too careful these days! These scumbags are everywhere.

This is another example of why you never post your number on a forum.
I had a scammer find the buyer who posted he would take it to an item I was selling and he messaged him before I could and the buyer sent him the money thinking it was me.
He found the buyers cell number from an old post the buyer posted with his number and scammed him.
