Spent 3 nights in a trekking pole pitched 10x10 tarp and a bivvy over the opener. Shelter worked great for the weight.

Had a week in a cushy wall tent courtesy of another member here, but the most enjoyable nights I had were when we spiked out into vast dark timber valley I came to call “the pit.” This was probably the most open of the space we hunted. Had some fun action, but didn’t manage to make any elk into dead ones.

I think these are Virginia, Wyoming, Minnesota BWCA, Adirondacks and the UP. One things for sure. Every place I have ever made camp had something special about it. One of these days I need to dig out the old hard photos shot on disposable cameras and a couple of external hard drives and make a album of nothing but Camp pics.

This was deer camp for quite a few years. My dad and I would live in this homemade teepee for 10 days in a designated roadless area we’d canoe to in northern Minnesota. We never saw another hunter and shot some nice deer. Unfortunately the entire area got clear cut and locals made ATV trails throughout the area. The county and state rescinded the roadless status. I haven’t been back since.

This was a new adventure for us. The deer didn’t cooperate but the camp worked out pretty well. Just had to hunt from the truck on day 1 &2 when the wind was 30-40 mph.
