Let's see some Mule Bucks

We don’t get too many mature bucks where I hunt here in California, so this one was pretty special.
Cool story behind this guy. I had spotted him a few times last year and blew a stalk on him during archery season. Come rifle season, I spotted him again, but sadly whiffed a 300 yard shot. After that, the buck began to hunker down on private land. I’d take my little girl on “coffee car rides” where we look for bucks and sip on coffee and milk. We would see this buck often and admire his beauty. Fast forward to a few days ago and my little brother found his final resting place. He was only a few hundred yards from where I stalked him with my bow last September. Sad to see his life come to an end, but cool to have his horns in the family so we could reminisce about him every time we have dinner together.

Side note: I couldn’t tell if he was shot and never recovered or if he was a lion kill. His face was eaten off, and I’ve been told that’s a sign that he was a lion kill? Anyone confirm?
