He tried to get me to send him a payment via PayPal friends and family for a TC Encore barrel. The biggest red flag to me is when someone insists that you use friends and family with PayPal. There is zero protection for the buyer in this situation. You better KNOW the guy is legit to use that option.

Did you report to the moderators? Account is still active.

To be fair PayPal won't protect sales of gun parts regardless of how payment is processed. They like to close accounts when they find out about guns and ammo transactions.

Regardless it does look suspect based on their previous posts (or lack there of). WTB ads will attract scammers like moths to a flame.

I'm confused. Was it just the request for friends and family that upset you or were you actually scammed in the end? I have asked for friends and family payments from people. One benefit is that it protects the seller from a scammy BUYER claiming they didn't get something when they did (never happened to me, just theoretical). Anyway, it's true that exchanging money over internet entails some risks if you don't know or have a way to vet each other. But the mere request for F&F is not proof of a scam, heck, people have sent me CASH!!

I find it interesting that PayPal is against firearms related transactions yet it happens daily. Hundreds of times I bet. mtmuley
