Koda's first ducks..

I took Fallingrock out to shoot ducks to see how Koda was going to behave at 8 months old. We jumped a few small sloughs that are everywhere this year. We dropped 5 duck in the slough in the picture and Koda brought all 5 back to me. The first duck Koda figured needed a little more killing so he trashed it while he was still in the water 5 or 6 feet from the edge. After him and I had a little man to dog talk he was back in for the rest of the ducks. We still got 4 to take home and Koda is well on his way to earning a place on the back deck for several more years.

Congrats to Koda. Too bad about the ruffed (haha) up bird, but sounds like he is on his way now. Axl got a little rough with a goose yesterday and removed a few neck feathers also.

Turning out to be quite the bird dog ..... he only falls out of the trees 30% of the time now.

Another great day out with the only kid that will bird hunt with me. Started out as usual with a typical fall sunrise. Then within 1/2 an hour the wind came up straight out of the south and nearly blew the hair right off the dog.
We never saw a goose but the ducks keep coming in bunches 20-50. They where going so fast and the wind was blowing so strong that you'd lead a green head before you saw him and a hen would drop out of the next flock.
After an hour we decided to call it a day and head home to build points for the next time out.

Way to go P'burn (now that's funny). Same wind here, but early this morning was OK. Always nice to stand up in the boat and the let the wind blow me back to the launch.

Glad Koda is doing well and on the good side, there are only about 3 trees up there anyway, if I remember correctly.

Keep us updated on the flights. Most of the birds I saw the last two days were new birds (accent gave them away, AHHHY).
