Kayak Fishing

I love my kayak it's opened up so much fishing for me without the hassle and maintenance of a boat. A few tips I wish I had known when I started. First if you have a place to store them inside it'll help the life drastically. If not inside at least get a tarp covering them or somewhere out of direct sunlight. Next a nice back and butt pad are a good investment I believe mine is a WooWave. Before that I used a treestand pad. Last I would recommend some form of anchoring system like a trolly or anchor wizard. It makes fishing so much nicer when you can get into position and make more then a couple cast with out having to whip the paddle out and reposition.

Becareful it can be a bit of a rabbit hole not counting the kids I own 3 now.

Or......get spot lock! Im going back and forth over getting a yak version.
So I just started down this particular rabbit hole. Just got a new kayak that I'm gonna completely deck out motor, fish finder, battery box the whole shebang. I'm still on the fence on if I should get a spot lock with controller. "Buy once cry once" rings in my head but I might try a till one first. Already have one in the shop and the kayak came with a motor mount set up for left hand till. Still gonna run a anchor wizard just in case.20260621_144818.jpg

I started using my kayak last year to fish smaller bodies of water. I hit the panfish pretty good on a couple trips. Definitely consider upgrading your seat.

I’m trying to stay more minimalist without the tech. At least that’s the plan for now.

From my few outings I’m definitely looking at a little anchor and a gear bag just for the kayak to grab and go (gloves, pliers, knife, etc.)
