Just Like London Bridges

We started the demolition of a bridge a couple of weeks ago, and I took a few pictures of one of the beams falling down. I think it is a pretty cool sequence. We have to completely demo this bridge and one just like it on the opposite side of the freeway and rebuild them and have them both open to traffic in 65 days.


This is a 5 span bridge and these pictures are of the 4th span as it is being dropped (or part of it anyways).


Here we go.

Took this picture today, which is Day 12.

30 of the 42 drilled shafts on this bridge are done, 6 columns poured and 4 ready to pour. As of today we are 6 days ahead of schedule.

Looks like your the smart one when you took those pictures. Far enough away in case something happens, yet close enough to see it happen. Are you a Safety Man? I say that because many times the guys who work in offices sometimes want to be to close to the action when they go outside to play, alla the guys in your photos. And the guys in the field stand back far enough to avoid any incidents. Just curious.

The photo is kind of misleading in the two gentleman in the picture as they were both at a safe distance. BTW, they are the State inspectors.
