Been waiting for a minute to post this thread. The 2026 Alaska moose trip will look a little different this year. We will be going early and hunting the opener. Due to my life schedule it was opener of don’t go that wasn’t really an option. With the new dates also comes a new crew one guy I have hunted Kodiak with we did the New Mexico audad trip and I elk hunt with him pretty regularly so I know he will be ok. The other guy I’ve spent more time to know it won’t be an issue taking him this far to the end of the world. He actually lurks on here but I won’t mention him unless he wants to chime in. All our plane tickets are booked the guys have tags in hand and most my logistics are handled already we leave in 2 months.

I forgot to mention the title comes from texting the guys today telling them we had a full day travel on the airplane. After I sent them that I realized it was a lie it’s 2 days everything we do on this trip….. Is just 2 days looking forward to taking some guys on their first moose trip

Had beer with the guys last night went over some plans we got about everything taken care of. It seems weird to be looking for my down clothes yesterday when it’s 100 out but I’ll probably start rounding up my gear this week.

23 days out life is getting super busy. Work is getting out of hand since my equipment won’t stay running. Preparing food for the trip and the wife this weekend. My buddies are going later in September also and will fly out of Billings but have to travel to town so I offered to meal prep for them also so it’ll all be frozen hard. I have 4 days worth of ribeyes for my crew and 6 for the other boys. Stopped for lunch I’m making the wife a sausage pepper meal

Will be following along with the thread. I'm itching to get back up there soon, hopefully next year. For now I'll live vicariously through you!

Also didn't know you were from billings area. I'm from Livingston so here's wishing you good luck from a fellow montanan.

Alaska Airlines changed its checked bag policy doing some reorganization and math on things to try and cut costs looking like I’ll get it dialed into 200 bucks to get all the gear up. Planning on stacking totes inside themselves and using the extras to ship meat home. I’ll post some pics when I get some more bought and things closer to dialed in

Can we plan for this again next year or the year after- together- and start from the top?🤣

First timer and all…..
