I saw my first buck chasing this morning as I was pulling out of the driveway. He is a resident bruiser in the area with a pronounced limp. Was after two does with their yearlings in tow.

We regularly have 8-11 does in our pasture and this week we are finally seeing some little bucks with them. My wife has been seeing a 2x2 the last 2 days. No big boys yet.

The buck I shot after work on Wednesday was rutting hard. He was chasing a doe all over the mountain before I ended his quest. They started rutting here in north central Montana over the weekend. They are going strong right now.

Edit: I just looked out my window here at work and I can see a herd of mule deer. There are two bucks chasing the does all around the face of the hill.

Edit Again: The two bucks just started fighting and are in a heated battle. I guess being stuck at work today wasn't so bad. :D

nice!!

Was out this morning in SW MT, two bucks went at it hard while a third had his nose up a does rump all over the place. They're rutting but I imagine the peak is yet to come. They had nice thick necks on them. Was a cool sight!

From a couple mornings ago

Northern Ohio has just started to get a bit Frisky this week. A few road kill does and I saw a 2 1/2 yr buck prancing through a 5 acre mowed field, like nobody's business, mid-day, during a rain storm yesterday.

But, alas, the gun season, and my free time are still a few weeks away.......
