Is chasing Wyoming permits worth it?

You had a crush on the meateater at one time, Dougie. What happened?
Funny post for a guy named big horned ram. Sounds like a code name for a certain kind of club certain kinda guys visit. Is that what they call you or just a screen name? Who’s the meateater me or you?

@Trike23 isn't exactly wrong from a pure hunting oppurtunity standpoint. Whitetails are the best value for big game from a dollar sense to just hunt. However, consistently hunting/killing big whitetails thats a different game. I can get a NR elk tag a hell of a lot cheaper than I can lease or buy a place to hunt around me. I could always hunt public, but public close to me isn't exactly where I want to spend my time. And I'm not gonna drive half way across the country to hunt deer smaller than I have here. I like the solitude and experiencing new areas that comes with that elk tag. To me thats where the extra expense is well worth the price.

If we were talking about Montana general elk my response would be a lot different. It’s just fun to participate in the HT dogpile every now and then. If I lived out east I’d probably have some lame @ss excuses. I’m impressed with the out of staters that consistently find success out west.

A lot of guys from the south and east come to the Midwest and do pretty damn good too for not knowing the area. I think a lot of that comes down to having one week and they hit it damn hard.

For the love of our good lord almighty. It took a hundred post and a lot of name calling and sarcasm but you finally understand my OG post! That’s what I was saying! Your the one high off your arse wake up man! that’s all I was saying!
You took it as an attack. Who in the fork says I’m missing out!? All I was saying is a LOT of guys may start to see value in just hunting. Any hunting. Then getting caught up in draws and point systems. A lot of OSSERS don’t want to hunt any old general unit. They want the prime units. Normal average Hunters just want to hunt . I never said you can’t play the game or pick up leftover tags! Not all People know about that chit though. They know how to go to Wally World and buy a license that comes with 2 buck tags and as many omg dare I say it doe’s as they want thought. Your kidding yourself if you think that isn’t more appealing to people. If you like to hunt anything anywhere it should be simple to understand.
You lost me at OSSURS. WTF is an OSSUR? Is that like a punch card for doe whitetails?

This thread is more refreshing than a frosty tailgate beer on a hot day of ranch work compared to arguing about politics. I love it. We need a good old fashioned elk cartridge debate too.

I just sent in my money to Wyoming, throwing in for the tag instead of just buying points for the first time since I’ve been back in Montana. I have dreams of a big 6 point in the high sagebrush homeland of my father…

Whitetails are cool, but you can’t put a price tag on the feeling you get lining up on a nice bull elk. YMMV.

Is there an opportunity for me to cash in my Wyoming deer points on a sweet whitetail doe tag?
