Iowa legislative session 2026

I usually tell people most of the bears we see are young males who are looking for their own territory. At this time there is not a breeding population but the populations in Wisco and Minnesota are expanding. There have been bears overwintering in Iowa for several years.
A couple of years back IDNR showed a mother with cubs on their web page. While I would not say that constitutes a population, it is a significant step up from
The wandering males.

The INHF and the ICCS put out an update this morning. Today marks the 29th day of the session and 2 weeks until the first funnel. At the funnel bills that have been introduced have to be passed by their assigned committee. Eminent Domain and Property taxes are the two big things that everyone has been talking about so far, but the House has introduced 342 House Files and 192 Study Bills so far, while the Senate has 230 Senate Files and 105 Study Bills.

if you can’t say a body of water is impaired, then it’s not! This dandy, affecting everyone in Iowa and downstream are affected by this bill that passed out of subcommittee today!

How can anyone take a politician seriously when they propose bills like this, last year this same knuckledragger proposed we buy 3 counties in Minnesota, this year he wants to build a stadium to bring the Chichago Bears to Iowa.
