Iowa elk hunter missing in Montana

"but what is it about this mountain range that seems to be so deadly"

nothing.

People believing their skills and knowledge are better than they really are is the problem. No animal, no matter how big of a trophy is worth your life.

The Crazies, like several mountain ranges in Montana, are forested at lower elevations then transition to open hard rocky slopes above with large outcroppings and shear-faced escarpments. During periods of snow or rain when visibility is low, it is prudent to slow down and cautiously move across the terrain or you can easily come to a precipitous cliff edge where you had better change your direction of travel to avoid a fall such as Mark Rollins apparently took.

Wasn't there another person missing last year or the year before? Is this the guy? I think there was a long thread on here but it seems the story was different than this one. Anyone know how that one turned out?
