Looking to visit Cheyenne WY relatives and hunt birds around Laramie region and NE Nebraska. I don't mind walking/hiking even if bird numbers are low. 1 bird is better than no bird. But I am curious if bird numbers are high enough in that section of Wyoming to get a few contacts a day if I put in the effort. Sevond, is anyone familiar with the terrain for a dog? Are there cactus, sand burrs porcupine, venomous snakes etc. Any info appreciated.

What types of birds are you looking for?

I lived in Cheyenne for a few years and didn’t think the pheasant hunting was that good in Wyoming. I hunted up towards Casper (Glendo area). I don’t think it was worth the effort.

However, just south there was a ton of area in Colorado that was worth it. I forget the numbers but it was 10s of thousands of acres in the WIA program. I got my limit of pheasants every time I went.

I do think the grouse hunting in Wyoming was strong in the Snowies.
