For 30 years I've had the same scope on my .300 Win Mag. a 2-7 Redfield Wide LowPro.

I've never shot over 350 yards on game with it, and so far the zero hasn't shifted. I've killed as many animals at under 50 yards as over 200 with it.

To be honest i don't know if my 20th century Ruger M77 it is on is accurate enough to warrant a better scope, but this year i need to dial in some non lead bullets for hunting in state.

Wondering if I can upgrade the optics with out raising the line of sight or making it not fit a saddle scabbard.

I'm open to Vortex and Leupold recommendations. i'd be interested in dialing the range too. But I don't want to lose close up low power still hunting 3 or 4x power.

Lets keep the Price under $799

I’d go with Leupold... vortex is a good alternative but they are just one step below Leupold in my opinion
