Size doesn't matter at this point in the season. Spotted calves are fair game. If you need encouragement for such actions, wait a couple days, Oak. I plan to implement those rules in Wyoming and will provide a shining example of how tasty young elk can be.

We'll never know. The herd pictured above was gone when I climbed the mountain this morning, so the next bull to show himself paid with his life. He and his equally sized companion came running around the corner of the mountain and screeched to a stop at 30 yards. I had no willpower.
