I have applied for 8 years to get a Wisconsin bear tag.Should have been able to draw one for sure this year instead I decided to just apply for another point and go to Montana and hunt them spot and stalk in the spring. Here we only have a fall season and baiting or dogs is about the only way to get them as the northwoods are thicker than pee soup.Eaither hunt would cost me $1,000.Here I would have to hire a guide or drive up north every week to bait for awhile.Or hire someone with dogs to take me.I figured I could go to Montana on my own and see some new country for the same price without nearly as good of odds of getting one.Montana sounded like more fun I guess.Anyone here ever done something like this?

Seems like you almost need 9-10 points to draw in Zone A. Got a bear in 1999 and 2 years ago drew and gave my tag to a youth thru United Special Sportsmens Alliance. Applied for kill tag this year but with 2 points no need to worry about drawing. Good Luck

Montana in May is pretty hard to beat, even if you are just looking for a joy ride.

If I had to invest the same $$ I'd be going to Montana too.I'm still thinking of trying this one year. Our bear hunting here is tough;3day season. Most of it is done by drives thru some unreal terrain, but would never miss it.Biggest bears in the world have been killed within miles of my house.I have videos of a couple in my yard that are giants
Good luck on your hunt
